INDEPENDENCE, Mo. -- It was a normal Saturday afternoon getting things done for Levi Wilson.

“I was loading stuff in my SUV. As we were loading stuff up, I hear bang, bang, bang, bang," Wilson said. “I told my girlfriend to get inside. And then we saw an SUV pull up and people were screaming for help.”

A gunman fired into a vehicle and shot Ally Marshall, who was 17 weeks pregnant.

“We took off our shirts, started treating the wounds," Wilson said.

Wilson called 911. Dispatchers told him to get Marshall to the Sugar Creek fire station down the road. It was safer than an ambulance arriving to the scene with a shooter on the loose.

“We waited for the ambulance for a very long time," Wilson said.
