WESTERN SLOPE, Colo. (KREX) - The United States remains in the midst of a government shutdown, with both Republican and Democratic lawmakers calling for a resolution to reopen the government.

Rep. Jeff Hurd and Sen. Michael Bennet have both expressed their desire to end the shutdown, emphasizing the need for bipartisan cooperation to address key issues such as health care and government funding.

"I understand people are frustrated. I'm frustrated, too. I'd like to be back in Washington right now working and doing the job that people elected me to do," Hurd said.
