Independent ACT senator and former rugby union great David Pocock has been kicked out of the Parliament Sports Club after he publicly criticised its links to gambling companies.
The former Wallabies captain and ACT Brumbies star has taken aim at the sports organisation for allowing gambling companies and other lobbyists to buy memberships to the exclusive club, in what he says is an attempt to gain access to members of Parliament.
The senator was told by the club's chief executive, Andy Turbull, on Thursday evening, October 9, that he had been kicked out and was "not welcome to attend fixtures operated by the club". Senator Pocock was also removed from group chats on Friday morning.
