NEW ORLEANS — After nearly five months on the run, Derrick Groves — the last of 10 men who escaped from the Orleans Justice Center — is back in custody.

Groves was arrested Wednesday in southwest Atlanta after a brief standoff. U.S. Marshals and Atlanta SWAT found him hiding in a crawl space inside a home on Honeysuckle Lane.

At a news conference Wednesday, Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill said Groves is scheduled to appear before a magistrate judge in Georgia on Thursday. At that hearing, he can choose to waive extradition. If he does not, officials will begin formal extradition proceedings to return him to Louisiana.

Once he's back in Louisiana, Groves is expected to appear before a judge in Orleans Parish, and then proceedings will continue.
