LUMBERTON — Lumberton’s Norah Johnson won Tuesday’s Tri-County Conference cross country meet at Luther Britt Park in Lumberton, her first varsity win, with a personal-best time of 22 minutes, 22 seconds. Johnson’s first-place finished helped the Pirates to finish first place in the girls team competition.
Ariana Alford took fifth in 24:01 for Lumberton, with Naomi Gutierrez seventh in 24:31 and Jaelyn Hammond eighth in 24:52 and Edit Saavedra 21st in 28:16. The Pirates finished with 40 points, ahead of runner-up Gray’s Creek with 46 and third-place Cape Fear with 56.
Lauren Aguilar finished 24th for Lumberton in 29:15 and Elizabeth Caulder was 31st in 35:32.
Purnell Swett’s Ariah Clark was 30th in 33:36 and Shalina Locklear 33rd in 39:28.
