A grandad left stranded in a Greek hospital has finally returned home to Scotland.
David Bloomfield, 86, is now at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Govan after being flown back on Thursday (October 9). A dispute between doctors and insurers over his medical treatment left him stuck in a Greek hospital for over two weeks.
David, from Newton Mearns, suffered a fall and fractured his left hip while on a two-week holiday in Crete last month, having flown out with easyJet. His insurance cover through the airline enabled him to undergo an operation to repair the break at the private Creta Interclinic in the capital Heraklion on 22 September, the Daily Record reports.
Later that week, his surgeon stated he could return home but only via an air ambulance or on a stretcher. Dav
