Maria Corina Machado has been awarded the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize , clinching the accolade ahead of hundreds of nominees including US President Donald Trump .

The five-strong Norwegian Nobel Committee announced this year’s recipient of the prestigious honour on Friday, with Venezuela’s opposition leader emerging at the top of a field of 338 nominees.

She beat 338 other candidates – 244 individuals and 94 organisations – who had been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize this year. New Feature
