NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - A bill that would amend a section of the Metropolitan Code of Laws to include a new commission passed its first vote of three Thursday night.
During Thursday night’s Metro Council meeting, a bill was introduced to amend Title 2 of the Metropolitan Code of Laws to establish the Metropolitan Animal Care and Control Commission.
The bill says the commission will act as an advisory committee, provide structured support and act as a liaison between MACC, the Metropolitan Board of Health, and the community to better serve people and animals in Nashville and Davidson County.
The bill cites expansive growth in Nashville and Davidson County as a reason for establishing the commission, with the shelter reaching maximum capacity with an average of more than 300 dogs and 13
