SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) -- After just one month of the school speed zone cameras being live, nearly 60,000 warnings were issued to speeding drivers. But how exactly does the ticketing process work? Does the camera take a picture and automatically send a ticket to the speeder's address?
Before a violation appears in your mailbox, the footage is reviewed by three sets of human eyes.
First, the footage is looked at by two people from the company that owns the cameras, Jenoptik. Once two people from the company review the evidence and determine it's a violation, the ticket gets sent over to the Syracuse Police Department to be reviewed by a third person.
