Tyler Curtis, a 15-month long City Commissioner, is the only incumbent candidate left in the race for the Emporia City Commission. Curtis was selected to complete the remainder of Danny Giefer’s City Commission term after the long-time civil servant passed in 2024.
Curtis’ background lies in education and features time spent at Emporia State University and the ESU Alumni Center. Curtis has worked as a high school teacher, principal, and most recently with the Kansas Methodist Foundation.
When Curtis joined the commission, he was entering an experienced commission where most had been serving for at least four years. His goal as Commissioner was to break down governmental information in a way that constituents could process and understand.
