Rachel Reeves’ Autumn Budget could force millions to switch car insurance policies amid pay-per-mile fears. A new study has found that around one in three motorists are now considering switching to so-called "black box" insurance.
According to Hastings Direct, drivers who choose telematics insurance typically save around 20 per cent on average compared to standard comprehensive cover. 'Black box’, also known as telematics insurance, is typically 20% cheaper than a standard new driver policy, with typical savings of hundreds of pounds.
It measures factors such as the speed motorists drive at, how harshly they accelerate or brake and whether they use their phone while driving to give them a score.
