An Urbana Township trustee candidate will be on trial early next year after indictments were filed against him last month.

According to the Urbana Daily Citizen, Daniel Evilsizor has been accused of felonious assault (F2), vehicular assault (F3) and failure to stop after an accident (M1). The indictments were filed in Champaign Count Common Pleas Court.

Mechanicsburg police received report of a construction worker hit by a motor vehicle on June 4. Evilsizor, 68, was determined to be the driver of the vehicle according to the indictments.

He appeared in court on Tuesday and will appear again on Jan. 23, 2026 at 8:30 a.m. He remains eligible to be on the general election ballot next month.
