DOWNTOWN — With the arrival of National Guard troops this week, no one could fault some Chicagoans for feeling tenuous about the immediate future.

That is what makes “Revolution(s),” now running at the Goodman Theatre, 170 N. Dearborn St., as part of its 100th anniversary season, the perfect musical for these unprecedented times.

“Revolution(s),” described as a “punk/metal/hip-hop musical,” tells the story of Hampton Weems, a soldier and aspiring musician who comes home to Chicago’s South Side from Afghanistan and finds that his neighborhood is also occupied territory. The timing of this musical’s current run through Nov. 9 is almost uncanny.
