TALLAHASSEE, Fla. ( WCTV /Gray News) - A freshman college football player has been released from the hospital over a month after he was shot.

According to an update from Florida State University, Ethan Pritchard is being moved to a rehab center in Jacksonville for the next phase of his recovery.

Ethan Pritchard is “alert, responsive and able to communicate,” the university’s football team said in a press release.

Video from the hospital shows supporters cheering for Ethan Pritchard as he was released.

Ethan Pritchard was shot in August near the Havana Heights Apartments .

According to law enforcement, Ethan Pritchard was leaving a family cookout and driving two relatives home when he was shot.
