A driver is in the hospital after crashing into a tractor-trailer at full speed on Interstate 95 in Norwalk on Thursday night, according to the Norwalk Fire Department.

Firefighters responded to the scene on I-95 North between exits 16 and 17 around 11:12 p.m. and found a pickup had rear-ended a tractor-trailer, apparently at full speed, and the front end was wedged under the back of the trailer, according to the fire department.

Firefighters worked for 25 minutes to remove the door to the pickup while lifting the trailer to free the driver.
