BISMARCK, N.D. (KFYR) - Around 37,000 North Dakotans could see their health insurance premiums soar if Congress fails to pass an extension for Obamacare subsidies.

Democrats in Washington want an agreement on the subsidies before they agree to end the shutdown. Republicans argue that this could be discussed after the government reopens.

With open enrollment weeks away, North Dakota Insurance Commissioner Jon Godfread wants the subsidies approved with the budget bills to make sure people purchasing insurance have an idea of the price.
