DOTHAN, Ala (WDHN) -- Power to thousands of customers in Houston County was restored after a planned outage that last over two hours.

On Thursday, Wiregrass Electric Cooperative conducted a planned outage that cut power to around 3,200 customers and meters.

"This outage was necessary to allow PowerSouth Energy Cooperative, WEC’s wholesale power supplier, to repair a faulty jumper on a high-voltage transmission line," Wiregrass Electric Coop representatives said in a release. "Scheduling this outage proactively prevented a potential equipment failure that could have caused a much longer and unplanned disruption. Members with updated contact information on file were notified several days in advance."
