COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) - Trees make our communities beautiful and there are other benefits.
“Trees provide a great resource for us, not only shade, but they also provide a little bit of conservation for us as well,” said Stephen Brueggerhoff with Texas A&M AgriLife.
“They’re helping to hold in some of the moisture. They’re helping to ameliorate some of the soil erosion that we have around the house,” he said.
He discussed some varieties while showing off their leaves, including the red bud, sweet gum, trinity sycamore and burr oak.
Registration is underway for a free event where you can learn more and receive a sapling.
“Trees for Brazos County” is being held on November 1 from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Brazos County Extension Office (4153 County Park Ct., Bryan).
