Between 80 and 100 people were evacuated from a Layton apartment building Friday morning, after a fire broke out there.

Five people — one resident and four police officers — suffered smoke inhalation from the fire at the Layton Meadows apartment complex, said Lt. Clint Bobrowski of the Layton City Police.

Two officers were taken to a local hospital, according to Bobrowski, where one was quickly released and the other was still being treated Friday morning. The resident and the other two officers were treated at the scene, he added.

One street near the complex, 1425 North in Layton, was expected to be closed for several hours, Bobrowski said.
