ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - The DeKalb County School District’s superintendent is facing criminal charges in Illinois, according to federal prosecutors.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Illinois filed the charges against Dr. Devon Horton on Thursday. He was named the DeKalb County superintendent in 2023.

Before coming to Georgia, Horton served as superintendent of Evanston/Skokie School District 65, which is in the suburbs of Chicago, from 2020 to 2023.
The indictment states Horton, and three others, “knowingly devised, intended to devise and participated in a scheme to defraud District 65 of money and property.”
