Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders on Friday announced the special election to fill a vacant seat in the state House of Representatives will take place on June 9, 2026. Despite a state law requiring such elections occur within 150 days of a vacancy in office, 252 days will elapse between the date the seat was declared vacant and the election to fill it.
Rep. Carlton Wing (R-North Little Rock) recently resigned his District 70 House seat to become head of Arkansas PBS.
