ST. CLAIR COUNTY, Mich. (WILX) - Health officials in Southeast Michigan are out with a warning after a person was bitten by a bat that has tested positive for rabies.
The St. Clair County Health Department on Friday announced they had received word about the bat’s positive rabies test from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services earlier this week.
The department said one person who was bitten by the bat has been identified and referred for appropriate medical treatment. It was not clear when or exactly where the person was bitten. Authorities did not release any information about the person or their condition after being bitten.
