PERINTON, N.Y. (Gray News) - The search for a missing 11-year-old has led authorities to a landfill 300 miles away from his home.

Police searched a landfill in Perinton, New York, on Thursday in connection with the disappearance of Jacob Pritchett, according to WHAM . Perinton is about 300 miles from the boy’s home in Brooklyn.

WHAM reported Jacob, who is nonverbal and autistic, was first reported missing following a welfare check at his mother’s apartment on Sept. 25. According to WHEC , neighbors typically saw the boy playing by himself at the window and grew concerned after not seeing him there anymore.

Jacob was not found during the welfare check and his mother told officers that she didn’t have a son.
