SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - Sioux City Fire Rescue held a fallen firefighters ceremony to honor firefighters who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving and protecting the City of Sioux City and its citizens.

In Sioux City, 12 firefighters have died in the line of duty. A ceremony honored them on Friday, Oct. 10.

Firefighters presented our nation’s colors. Then each fallen firefighter’s name was read, and a wreath was placed in their honor.

“Having a ceremony like this kind of brings closure to the families number one. But number two, it highlights the importance of the profession and the dangers that go along with it,” said Ryan Collins, Sioux City Fire Rescue Chief.
