PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — There were reports of shots fired near I.C. Norcom High School late in its football game against Churchland High School Friday night, according to police and the school division.
Portsmouth Police said there were reports of shots fired nearby and did not have any reports of injuries.
A Portsmouth school division official said police would have to provide specifics, but there were gunshots reported in the streets near the I.C. Norcom campus toward the end of the school's football game with Churchland. The Portsmouth Sheriff's Office helped clear the stadium .
In a joint message from I.C. Norcom principal Teesha Sanders and Churchland principal Brandi Smedley, they let people know of the shots fired.
