CHEYENNE — The Rev. Dr. Hilton J. McClendon Sr. isn’t very good at sitting still. From when he began preaching at the age of 6 and now into his retirement, McClendon has always been working to help others.
Growing up in Denver following the abrupt death of his father, McClendon attributes much of his philosophy on life to his faith, his mother and the community he grew up in.
“My mother told us, ‘We may not have much ourselves, but what we have we’re willing to share.’ And I feel that’s the concept that we have to all have right now,” he said.
This attitude toward life and others has led McClendon to a lifetime of service to others and his community. That’s why he was nominated and selected to receive the 2025 Community Spirit Award from the Wyoming Tribune Eagle.
