LA County Confirms Six Total Fatalities Tied to the Synthetic Substance

Los Angeles County health officials have identified three more deaths linked to the synthetic kratom compound 7-Hydroxymitragynine (7-OH), prompting renewed warnings about the growing public health threat.

The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health announced that the additional fatalities bring the total number of confirmed overdose deaths associated with 7-OH to six. The most recent victims—residents between the ages of 18 and 40—were generally healthy before ingesting the substance. Toxicology results showed that alcohol and, in some cases, prescription medications or illicit drugs were also present.
