A firefighter and a bystander who attempted to assist an occupant during a house fire Friday night in central Lincoln suffered minor injuries.

The electrical fire in the kitchen of a home at 1112 S. 13th St. caused $50,000 damage to the structure and $10,000 to the contents, according to Lincoln Fire and Rescue spokesperson MJ Lierman. It was reported at about 8:30 p.m.

The home's occupant was not transported but someone who tried to help the occupant out was taken to the hospital with a minor injury. A firefighter was also hurt, Lierman said, although not seriously.
