BISMARCK, ND (KXNET) - This week marked a quieter stretch on North Dakota roads in terms of news coverage, with only two notable crashes reported by KX News. By comparison, the previous period from September 28 to October 3 saw eight incidents statewide, including a fatal collision in Watford City and a high-speed pursuit near Grand Forks.

A 76-year-old Grand Forks man was killed late Saturday night when his vehicle was struck by a train about three miles west of Grand Forks, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred at about 10 p.m. Saturday in the 1600 block of 17th Avenue NE. Authorities said a 2018 Chevrolet Equinox became high-centered on the railroad tracks northwest of the intersection of 16th Street NE and 17th Avenue NE.
