A person is dead after a collision between a motorist and pedestrian in Mississauga Friday night, emergency responders say.
Just before midnight, a man in his 60s was crossing Mississauga Road near Meadowvale Boulevard when he was struck by a person driving an SUV southbound from Highway 401 , Peel police said in an email.
The driver of the SUV remained on the scene and had tried to aid the victim, police said, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said "there is no indication of charges at this point."
The major collision bureau is now investigating.
Roads in the area were temporarily closed, but police said Saturday morning that they have reopened.
