A conflict between a West Valley school district superintendent and a state representative has escalated with the threat of a lawsuit.

Tolleson Union High School District Superintendent Jeremy Calles sent a notice of claim Oct.1, accusing Rep. Matt Gress, R-Phoenix, of making defamatory statements about him and his company. A notice of claim is a precursor to a lawsuit against a public entity or employee required by Arizona law.
