CORDOVA, Tenn. - During a public forum Thursday night, city, county and state leaders set the record straight about the National Guard's role in Memphis ahead of its arrival.

Called Moving Memphis Forward, the forum had leaders discuss the Memphis Safe Task Force and explained how officers, agents and the guardsmen will work together to combat violent crime. The goal was clear up misinformation about the federal reinforcement.

The task force started after the FBI called Memphis the most dangerous city in the country. Anthony Buckner, chief deputy for the Shelby County Sheriff's Office, said operations have grown to include hundreds of federal agents working alongside local officers.
