SHELBYVILLE, Ky. — A Shelby County government building was forced to close its doors for two days this week after an unsettling discovery: a bed bug infestation.
The closure affected both the Shelby County Clerk's Office and the Property Valuation Administrator's Office, located in the Shelby County Courthouse Annex— not to be confused with Shelbyville City Hall or the main courthouse.
Shelby County Clerk Tony Harover confirmed the presence of the pests after spotting them himself.
"I saw a dead one, and I saw one that was still alive yesterday," Harover said. "A bed bug sighting, and that’s what we treated for."
