WARREN - For many owners, when their pet is having a health emergency, the first thing that comes to mind is to get them to a veterinarian as quickly as possible. While this isn't a bad idea, Pet Emergency Education is looking to give them a few other options as first resorts.

On Saturday, Pet Emergency Education collaborated with Sit Happens, a dog training and daycare facility, to host a Canine and Feline CPR and First Aid certification class.

Participants were trained in:

Cat and Dog CPR

Injured pet transportation

Emergency triage

Checking vital signs

Basic wound care

They were also taught to react to a variety of dangerous situations and statuses for their pet, including:

Choking

Allergic Reactions

Poisoning

Shock

Burns
