COLUMBIA — Former NICU babies reunited with their caregivers at Boone Hospital Center Saturday during the "Boone Family Birthplace NICU Reunion." Saturday marked the return of the annual reunion since before the COVID-19 pandemic.
The event welcomed back graduates of Boone Health’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, their families, and the nurses, doctors, and staff who cared for the babies during their first days, weeks, or months on Earth.
The NICU provides critical care for newborns who need special medical attention immediately after birth. This includes babies who are born prematurely, have difficulty breathing or feeding, struggle to maintain body temperature, or develop serious infection.
“I just love seeing how the babies have grown and changed, and having the family together,” said
