LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) -- When it comes to soccer, polls and studies show it's the most popular sport in the Latin American community. For Liberty Flames women's soccer player Gaby Bazan, that love for the sport stems from her Mexican heritage.
"Both of my parents grew up with nothing. They really tried to raise me to be grateful for everything and tried to give me the best opportunities," Bazan said.
Bazan said she learned to play soccer from her dad who would set up drills in their backyard for her to work on her skills.
Though born in the United States, Bazan feels connected to her Hispanic roots. Her goal is to one day play for the Mexican women's national team.
