DOWELL, Ill. (WSIL) -- The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office responded to a motorcycle crash early Saturday morning in rural Dowell, resulting in one person dead and another injured.

The sheriff's office said two motorcycles collided while traveling westbound on Dowell Road near Chammess Road, leading to one losing control and the driver being ejected and pronounced dead at the scene.

Alcohol impairment is suspected to have played a role in the crash, the sheriff's office stated.

The other motorcyclist was reported with non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a local hospital.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Traffic Crash Reconstruction Unit is investigating the cause and circumstances of the crash.
