DULUTH — Eyes were on the sky, looking through binoculars and camera viewfinders, at Hawk Ridge Bird Observatory at 3980 E. Skyline Parkway on Saturday for the Everyone Can Bird: Fall Migration event. Saturday also happened to be World Migratory Bird Day.
October is peak migration season for some of the largest raptors, including bald eagles and red-tailed hawks. The event was the finale in a three-part, free birding series geared toward people of all skill levels and abilities. It’s the fourth year of "Everyone Can Bird" events in the Twin Ports.
“It's called Everyone Can Bird, so we welcome everybody,” said Ryan Feldbrugge, education specialist with Lake Superior National Estuarine Research Reserve.
“We have everything you need to bird, so all you have to do is show up with yourself.
