INDIANAPOLIS — IMPD is investigating after a man died in a shooting Saturday afternoon on the southwest side of Indianapolis.

According to IMPD, around 6:50 p.m. on Oct. 11, officers were in the 4700 block of Kentucky Avenue , near Interstate 465, when they heard shots being fired.

IMPD said an officer drove by and saw a person down in a parking lot.

When officers arrived on scene, they say they found an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound. They transported the man to an area hospital in critical condition. However, he was later pronounced dead.

The Marion County Coroner’s Office will determine the exact manner and cause of death.

IMPD Ofc. Drew Brown said officers have recovered "multiple" shell casings at the scene.
