John Welde had a career night Friday, setting the Cardinal O’Hara single-game passing yardage record in a 42-14 win over Father Judge.

Welde threw for three touchdowns and 324 yards.

The latter figure downs a school record held since 1969, when Mike Bracken threw for 317 against Bishop Neumann. That game was powered by 273 receiving yards from future NFL player Don Clune, still the O’Hara record and fifth-best in Delaware County history.

Amahj Gowans ran for three touchdowns Friday, taking his tally to 14 scores on the season for the Lions (6-2, 1-2), who halted a two-game slide.

Gowans opened the scoring with a 4-yard touchdown, set up by a 33-yard connection between Welde and Emilio Martinez. Welde found Fode Wilks for 47 yards on the next series before hitting Simon Horta for a 24-y
