AUBURN, Ala. — Cam Newton, the former Auburn quarterback waiting for a halftime jersey retirement ceremony, signalled for a touchdown near the end zone in Jordan-Hare Stadium.
Instead the ball came out on Tiger quarterback Jackson Arnold’s third-and-goal run at the 1-yard line with 1:32 to go.
Georgia football linebacker Raylen Wilson knocked the ball out with his right hand. Kyron Jones took it other way for a touchdown but the play was ruled down.
It was still a 10-point swing after Georgia kicked a field goal to trail 10-3 at the half despite being outgained 237-78.
“We still got screwed out of 4 points,” HuntinDawg posted on a thread he started on UGASports.com.
The officials ruled Georgia ball and a review of more than five minutes confirmed that.
