KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- On Saturday, people across the Kansas City metro gathered outside the Italian Gardens restaurant for the second annual Carl. J. DiCapo Italian Heritage Festival.

Together, with the help of the Salvation Army, the family of the late Carl. J. DiCapo paid tribute to the restaurateur who dedicated his life to helping those in need in the metro.

Attendees also enjoyed great Italian food with DiCapo's son following in his father's footsteps and being the night's head meatball maker.

"I picked up the mantle and decided I was going to carry on the tradition, so that's what we're here today we're doing we have great food we have great entertainment we have all kinds of good people here celebrating our Italian heritage," John DiCapo said.
