West Coast coach Daisy Pearce has praised her team’s defence in Saturday’s 17-point defeat to Adelaide at Norwood Oval in a game that could have produced a much bigger losing margin.
The Crows won the clearance count, 31-15 and inside 50s 43-23 in their 7.6 (48) to 4.7 (31) Pride Round victory.
The West Coast back half was led by Georgie Cleaver, who took six marks and had 14 intercepts among her 18 possessions, and 50-gamer Charlie Thomas (seven intercepts).’
“Georgie has grown a lot and our defenders as the game wore on got organised and held down well,” Pearce said.
“When there’s not the pressure on the ball it’s hard as a defender. But as that built, they were much better.
“To defend such a big discrepancy in inside 50s, keep the scoreboard manageable and give us a bit of a look g
