ST. CLOUD — The score was 4-2 in favor of St. Cloud State, which felt relatively unimportant for the Bemidji State men’s hockey team on Saturday.
Just under two minutes into the third period, SCSU’s Tanner Henricks hit Adam Flammang from behind into the boards.
Flammang didn’t get up.
The Bemidji State players who were on the ice immediately motioned to officials and trainers for assistance as Flammang, a senior forward and alternate captain, lay motionless on his back in the corner of the Huskies’ defensive zone. One official wasted no time skating off the ice to tell the rink staff at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center to prepare the stretcher.
