Last week, the Boys and Girls Club’s annual state-wide Wyoming Junior Youth of the Year competition was held at Gillette’s club for the first time.

Each year, Boys and Girls Clubs across the state select one club member between 10 and 13 years old to compete, giving interviews and speeches to a panel of judges for the state title. This year, seven contestants, along with board members and staff from their respective clubs, met in Gillette on Oct. 2 and 3.

Gillette Mayor Shay Lundvall officially welcomed visitors ahead of the competition, and the competition itself was judged by Kevin Couch , Tayler Webb and Kelly Barlow .
