On Saturday, the LGBTQ+ community was observing National Coming Out Day across the country, including here in Erie.
Erie Gay News organized a group photo on the steps of the Erie County Courthouse to recognize the day and bring people of the community and allies together.
Those involved say it's important to build a community of LGBTQ+ individuals and make that community visible.
Mike Mahler, editor and founder of Erie Gay News, said, "There is a sense of 'we are all together' because some people may tend to mostly socialize within their own particular part of the community. So, something where you are socializing with other folks, it's a chance to make connections."
The group photo drew a crowd of nearly 80.
