PHOENIX — A ground stop as well as a ground delay were issued for Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport on Sunday morning due thunderstorms.
According to the Federal Aviation Administration, departures to Sky Harbor had an average delay of 78 minutes because of the storms. The delays were expected to last until around 2 p.m.
The flight-tracking website FlightAware showed more than 175 flights were delayed as of 8:45 a.m.
In addition to the delays, a ground stop was in place at Phoenix Sky Harbor until 9 a.m.
