North Dakota (KXNET) — Two proposed North Dakota Dairy farms are set to be reviewed by the International Joint Commission (IJC). The IJC is the governing body that oversees waterways between the U.S. and Canada.
Both proposed projects would be operated by Riverview, a Minnesota-based company. Both projects are located near the Red River. One of the farms would have 12,500 cows and be located in Richland County. The second of the proposed dairy farms would be in Traill County. The Traill County project received a green light from the North Dakota Department of Environmental Quality(NDDEQ) in late September and would be a 25,000-head operation. Both projects have met pushback from local community members for their massive scale and locations only a mile from the Red River.
