NEW PALTZ, N.Y. — The Rosendale International Pickle Festival is set to return for its 28th year on Sunday, Oct. 19, and promises a full day of pickle-themed fun.

The festival will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Ulster County Fairgrounds, 249 Libertyville Road.

The event, first celebrated in 1997, has grown bigger and bigger every year, eventually outgrowing its previous home at the Rosendale Recreation Center. This will be the third year it has taken place at the fairgrounds.

Victoria Coyne, festival co-chair, said the festival began when Rosendale town historian and beloved barber Bill Brooks was tasked with entertaining some guests from Japan who liked pickles.
