RED HOOK, N.Y. — The race for the District 19 seat on the Dutchess County Legislature pits a one-term Democrat against a Republican school psychologist.
Chris Drago, 51, the Democrat, is attempting to recapture the seat in a contest against Tonya M. Pulver, 54, the Republican.
County legislators serve two-year terms. However, due to a change in state law that requires most local elections to take place in even years, legislators would run for only a one-year term this year. A decision by the state Court of Appeals on a challenge to that law is pending.
Early voting begins on Oct. 25. Election Day is Nov. 4.
District 19 comprises a portion of the towns of Red Hook and the towns of Milan, Pine Plains, North East, and Stanford.
